An update on what's going on at the corner of St. Charles and Louisiana Aves...

First to my shock and amazement, the pink building that was formerly a video store then deli, is no more and has been torn down to become the future home of an First NBC. It was still standing Sunday...

They better have that debris gone before the parade start rolling. What a huge party area!

And for those wondering about the Border's that's going into the former Bultman Funeral home, here's a photo of the super gut job that has been done.

Demolitions are currently the biggest sign of change/progress in New Orleans. Everyday, something else is GONE.

I used to live around the corner from there (on Prytania and Pleasant). Is the gas station still there? What is left? The McDonalds and Rite-Aid?

The gas station building is still there but it's shuttered. They never reopened after Katrina. The Rite Aid is still there so is the McDonald's, the cheap gas station and Rally's. The hair salon next to Rite Aid is now an after-hours emergency care clinic. The CC's on the corner of Prytania and Louisiana is now a credit union, and the old donut shop is now a parking lot.

There was a great overhead photo of the Bultman/Borders gut job in the T-P today, but they don't have the photo on nola.com yet.

I'm looking at a house on Louisiana, about a block from the CCs you mentioned. What is the neighborhood like? In looking at the satellite view of the street, it appears that I would back up to the Touro Infirmary parking garage. Any thoughts? Thanks!!

DJJoe, I don't think you can go wrong on Louisiana Ave. It does have a LOT of traffic though. You better have a driveway or parking's going to be a nightmare. And you better like parades, you'll be near St. Charles Ave for Mardi Gras and the St. Pat's Day parade rolls down Louisiana. Is it the 1400 block?

1434 to be exact. Seems like it might need a little work, but it looks like a beautiful house. And it does have a driveway! I can just see myself sitting on the balcony watching the St. Patrick's Day parade go by. :-) I just need to convince my wife how wonderful that would be!! Oh...and find a job in NOLA. That would help. Know anyone that's hiring? :-)
